Been a little AWOL...

It feels like forever since I checked into my little blog! I have no excuse really except that I have been pretty busy with all the craft fair readiness and entertaining my kiddos over spring break. Oh, and it also took me a few days of being back at work to get into the swing of things but I think things are starting to feel normal again. Spring break was really nice - it was like a little taste of what summer will be! It was nice to do stuff like sleep in and take the kids to have lunch with the husband. Stuff I used to take for granted before I rejoined the workforce ;) We also did some really cool things like take a train ride through the country and take the kids to a free Blue October concert during SXSW (a huge music festival here in Austin). Ah, but now that all that it over it's time to refocus! My little store has really picked up a little steam lately - it's really made me excited! I'm currently hosting a giveaway of at Jaebum Fangirl's blog - be sure to check it out for a chance to win one of my super cute coin pouches! I'm also in full swing of preparing for my second craft fair which will be at the Spring Fling held at Jim Plain Elementary here in Leander on Saturday, March 26th - it's where I work and where my kids go to school so it's a great way to support us if you're in the area! I'm super excited and hope there's a great turn out :) So I think that's all I have for now - I'm hopin I'll have a little time to make another post about some new things that I have been working on to put in the shop...stay tuned ;)

I love this time of year. One of the reasons is because my sweet son thinks weeds are beautiful flowers that must be picked to give to his mom. This particular flower came from the neighborhood park that he and his sister were spending the afternoon at. Melts my heart everytime :)

Busy bee...

Sorry I have been gone awhile - I have been working like crazy to get ready for this upcoming craft fair that I have been invited to attend. I am beyond excited! It will be in downtown Austin Saturday, March 16th during SXSW - eep! There will be several fellow Austin Etsians (a fancy word for people who sell on Etsy) there as well. I feel so honored to be a part of it! I have lots of new things I am making that I will be debuting at this fair :)

I don't know about you but time is really starting to fly fast! I can't believe that it is almost March! Spring is right around the corner - yay! Since it's almost spring, it's also almost Megan's birthday. Out of all us Megan is the only one who doesn't have a birthday in August. Sometimes she likes that but most of the time it really makes her feel leftout so I try really hard to make her birthdays extra special. This year she will be turning 5 ( I refuse to believe that by the way) and I already have some cute ideas brewing in my mind but I will save those for another post ;) Anyway, here's a silly picture from my phone of me and Megan.

Ah...I want this machine! Don't get me wrong, I love my current machine. She is strong, tough, and never gives me trouble (for the most part) but she is starting to get old. By old I mean she is almost as old as I am. It's hard to justify buying a new sewing machine when my current one works just fine. What has me sold on the new machine though is that it is also an embroidery machine. I mean really when I think about it, this new machine could be considered a business investment ;) Just think of what I could add to my little Etsy shop if I included embroidered items! Hmmmm....

Oh, and just for fun, here is a picture of my current machine all blinged out :)

I wanted to start something here on my little blog that would force to upload SOMETHING weekly so I thought it would be fun to put one picture a week from my world. Today's picture is of one of my two cats. His name is Mikey and he likes to meow..a lot...and very loudly...especially at night. This picture happens to be from this morning but trust me he was still very loud. At least we always know where Mikey is in the house ;)

So Swank Owl is officially open for business. It took me a while - a whole year as a matter of fact - to persuade myself to actually take the plunge and sell my creations. I have a great circle of family and friends that have encouraged and supported me and finally pushed me over the edge :)

I love making things for people but I have always given them away. Selling things I make is taking it to a whole other, very scary level. I have a lot of hope for this little shop of mine. I realize that people won't be rushing to buy me out of everything I list but if I manage to merely support this craft habit of mine then I will be a happy camper. Onward and upward :)
